A Softer High…

Mocktails are trending.

By all accounts so are gummies.

Remember the days when a night out meant multiple dirty martinis or cosmos, blurry selfies and at least one regret involving karaoke and a private equity stranger named Morgan?

Fast forward to today and people are microdosing their evenings with CBD gummies and calling it wellness.

Yes, friends. We are living in the era of the Chill Chew.

Let’s compare, shall we?

🍸 Drinking: The Classic Crowd Pleaser

Pros:

-Social lubrication since 10,000 B.C.

-Gives you confidence to dance like Beyoncé and memory loss to forget you did and allows you to verbalize what you really feel.

-Leveraging a bartender who is a lot like a therapist, usually more attractive and costs less.

Cons:

-Hangovers that feel like you’ve been stomped on by a horse practicing dressage.

-Poor decision-making (see: texts to exes and PE Morgan).

🍬 CBD Gummies: The New-Age Nibbler

Pros:

-Calmer vibes, clearer skin and no crying in the bathroom.

-No hangover. You just wake up feeling like a very balanced Pilates instructor.

-More affordable than a night out drinking.

Cons:

-No wild stories and colorful regrets.

-No guaranteed timeline as the edible may kick in at dinner or during your morning meeting the next day.

I can foresee fewer bar fights, more group meditation, fewer bad tattoos, less walks of shame, fewer arrests, more naps.

Alas, fewer stories that begin with, “So we were four martinis in when…”

Let’s be honest…CBD culture is like soft jazz. Everyone says they like it, no one is sure what’s happening, but we’re all vibing.

If alcohol is loud karaoke at 1am, gummies are all about late night bingeing in front of the TV and making sure that is are multiple cans of frosting in the pantry.

While the world may be a little less wild, it just might be a little more well-adjusted.

So cheers to fewer regrets, more chill peeps and gummies that don’t ghost you like Morgan.
