Age Doesn’t Count In A Pool…

There’s something magical that happens the moment I slip into the water.

The world gets quieter. The edges of responsibility blur. Deadlines, dishes, emails and errands all wait politely on the pool deck while I float. Here, I am not a woman with commitments or a list of things to fix, finish, or fret over. I am just… me.

In the water, I feel ageless.

Weightless in body, light in spirit.

No one tells you that growing older can also mean growing heavier—not just physically, but with the weight of life. The worries that accumulate like unread emails. The aches that did not exist until you passed the 50-yard line.

Here, suspended in still blue, gravity loosens its grip. My shoulders unclench. My breath deepens. My soul does a lazy backstroke.

This isn’t just about exercise. Yes, I am addicted to swimming laps, but this is also about exhaling and remembering that joy can be as simple as the sun on your face and the shimmer of water around you.

There is no judgment in the pool. No mirrors. No pressure to perform. Just movement. Buoyancy. Presence.

I may be aging, but in the pool, I am not defined by age. I am a girl again, diving for plastic rings, pretending to be a mermaid, blowing bubbles and grinning at the sky.

Maybe that is the real fountain of youth, not something you drink, but something you feel when you finally let go and just float.
