There are steakhouses… and then there’s La Tête d’Or.
Chef Daniel Boulud clearly decided the American steakhouse could use a little je ne sais quoi.
The charismatic General Manager, Elvir, runs the room with the precision of a Swiss watch. He is a rabid NY Giants fan so we are bonded by our deep rooted suffering.
The food is a culinary master class disguised as dinner.

We commenced the feast we a complimentary glass of champagne which led us to a tender sweet Hamachi Crudo served with orange slices, avocado and radish ($24).

The Seafood Salad Louie garnished with outstanding Bibb lettuce, lobster and shrimp in a creamy dressing was a symphony of chilled luxury ($29).

The Crab Cake with a tarragon remoulade, piquillo and pickled vegetable slaw was meaty, the outside a heavenly crispness. This was a superb dish ($34).

The 16 ounce Prime Black Angus Rib-eye, dry aged for 45-days with light marbling was tender, and full of flavor ($126). As an add on we selected the rich, buttery Bone Marrow ($15) and a Horseradish Cream sauce ($8).

The perfectly seared Yellowfin Tuna Steak was delicate and presented a sweet, mild flavor ($46).

The crispy Brussels Sprouts proved once again that vegetables can, in fact, steal the show ($18).
For non-meat eaters there are numerous delicious options.

And those sides…Pommes Frites so crisp and tender at the same time ($18).

The Creamy Spinach should be illegal in several health-conscious states ($18).

We had a glimpse of the renown Prime Rib as it was regally chauffeured around the room and sliced table side. It is a 10 Oz. cut and served with a multitude of sides ($130).

We finished off the memorable meal with the Berry Soft Serve that was accompanied by small dishes of cookie dough and brownie bites, passionfruit marshmallows, meringue kisses, and housemade sprinkles. It was a dessert so good it might make you whisper mon dieu ($24).
Yes, you’ll pay for the pleasure, but what you get in return is not just dinner it is culinary diplomacy, where butter, wine, and impeccable service negotiate your happiness.
We sat next to the charming Kaity Tong, the iconic New York newscaster which further enhanced the evening.
