Faena Fabulosity…Exploring NYC

A perfect fall Sunday demands action.

Get up, get out and explore.

We jumped on a subway packed with British tourists.

We exited at 18th Street which is ugly and dirty. Clearly sidewalk sanitation in is not a soon to be deposed Mayor Adams priority.

Anyway, made our way through the soiled concrete jungle to paradise.

In the middle of ugly stands the beautifully designed, creative entity, the brand new Faena Hotel NYC.

Nestled under the remarkable High Line stands fabulosity.

From the minute you enter this artistic dwelling you know you are in a shrine to beauty and refined hospitality .

We immediately met the gracious, handsomely outfitted Faena  ambassador, Brian, who took us on an exquisite tour of the recently opened hotel.

I went out of my way to seek out the newly opened Faena located on the far west reaches of 18th street because the Miami Beach Faena is also an artistic shrine.

You run head on into Ascension, a monumental mural by Argentine contemporary artist Diego Gravinese, commissioned for The Cathedral lobby. The site specific artwork mirrors the sacred journey, The Tree of Life.

We ascended the spiral staircase and were escorted to the Living Room which is a shrine to luxurious detail, highlighted by the Faena symbol, the black panther.

The hallway showcases the enormous Keith Haring Montreux Jazz Festival mural, featuring an eight panel acrylic painting which celebrates the legacy of the iconic New York artist.

Next stop was the Boca Restaurant displaying the pop art of Edgardo Gimenez.

The attention to detail and overall color scheme is outstanding.

Alan Faena is the founder and owner of the Faena Group, a global luxury lifestyle company he started with Len Blavatnik. He is an Argentine hotelier and real estate developer who began his career in fashion before expanding into luxury hotels in Buenos Aires and Miami Beach.

I highly recommend stopping by the Faena NYC and continuing on to the High Line which has aged well with the flourishing of the foliage and the natural flow into Hudson Yards.

We climbed up the West 18th Street stairwell proceeding to Hudson Yards and strolled the mall taking in the reopened Vessel structure.

We enjoyed breakfast at Daily Provisions and a walk through the exquisitely renovated Moynihan Station, passing through the beautifully restored original post office area.

We walked the 50 blocks home.

New York City offers an endless array of exciting, interesting things to do.
