Hungry Heart…Paris Restaurant Review

I just had to post about an intimate, unpretentious Parisian restaurant that demurely screams fabulosity.

There are restaurants in Paris where lunch is a functional pit stop and then there is Vantre, where lunch is a life choice, a declaration of intent, a midday affirmation that you absolutely deserve this.

Michelin Star dining is an experience, but sometimes you just crave a delicious, less fussy, reasonably priced meal.

Vantre, located in a non-bougie Paris neighborhood, is small yet big in flavor.

Owner and wine servant, Marco Pelletier, studied engineering in his home country of Canada, but pursued his love for wine, eventually landing in France.

Marco was head Sommelier of some of Paris’ best restaurants, including Le Taillevent and Epicure at the Hotel Le Bristol.

He left the 3 Michelin Star world to open Vantre, a Parisian wine bar with an extensive wine list and an emphasis on great food. Pelletier is also the vigneron for Domaine de Galouchey in Bordeaux.

Go to Vantre for lunch. The lunch special, whipped up by the youthful yet accomplished Chef Satria Vue, is beyond a fantastic deal. 29.50 euro ($34.34) for three amazing courses.

Do not skip the wine offerings. At Vantre the wine list is so impressive that it should be a registered UNESCO site. Their cellar is a thing of legend, a liquid Louvre.

The team is gracious, wise, and willing to guide you through Burgundy without requiring a second mortgage. They will pair you with a bottle that makes both the trout and beef cheeks taste even better.

The Prix-Fixe lunch is as good a value as finding a genuine Chanel Jumbo bag on sale.

Lunch at Vantre is filled with delicious butter, braises, and a cheese course that makes you question whether you should apologize for all the mediocre cheese you’ve eaten in the past.

The meal unfolds like a perfectly choreographed seduction.

Elegant, glistening, and cooked with such precision you suspect the kitchen has made a pact with the culinary gods. Light yet decadent, the edible embodiment of Parisian balance.

Here are some of the dishes:

The atmosphere is effortless without trying too hard.

Warm, buzzy, stylish. A room filled with locals who clearly know they have beaten the system by coming here for lunch.

The energy is comfortable yet chic.

Vantre is a triple threat with a legendary wine cellar, a lunch that wildly overdelivers and food that flirts shamelessly with your palate.

Vantre is a Paris site that should not be missed.

Vantre 19 Rue de la Fontaine au Roi Paris, France. Open Monday-Friday 12-2pm and 7:30-10pm.
