I Love A Rainy Day…

Who knew that bad weather in Florida could be so relaxing and peaceful.

In my pre-squamous cell phase of life I would freak out when I visited my parents in Florida during the winter months and the weather did not meet the perfection standard of clear, sunny skies, and minimum 70 degree temps.

It was a must to be tan so that when I returned to high school or college I looked fabulous, highlighted by white Oxford shirts and radiant cashmere sweaters.

I still adore the sun and reading at the beach, but I am basically covered head to toe, wrapped in bubble wrap and  smeared in SPF 50.

Yesterday, I did my 2 hours of due diligence in the pool partially accompanied by the Marvelous Mermaids in less than stellar conditions.

I then adjourned to my home and watched the wind blow, the palm trees sway, the rain beat down from my patio, delighting in the peace and quiet, reading a good book.

Is this maturity? I doubt it…just a woman enjoying some down time after the turbulent times in the big city surrounded by universal insanity and a country on the brink of imploding.

it feels good to be far from the maddening crowd.

Here’s to kindness, peace, love, sanity and lots of blue skies, sunshine and tropical days…I am not that forgiving.
