A quick note on a day trip to the Champagne region in France.
It is a 40 minute nonstop train trip from Paris’ Gare D’Est.
Reims is a very hip, beautiful city.
We scheduled a noon tour at Cave Taittinger.
The tour was fabulous and the Reserve and Rose tasting at completion was incredibly satisfying.
The historical chalkycellars which are certified as a UNESCO world heritage site, are captivating. The champagne process is very complex. For all the lengthy harvesting, fermentation process the cost should be much higher.
A fantastic lunch at the new Taittinger restaurant, Polychrome, pays tribute to the art of blending, combining culinary excellence with Taittinger champagnes. The lunch was beyond delectable set in lovely surroundings, enhanced by a beautiful sunny Sunday.
The Notre-Dame de Reims, known as Cathedral Notre Dame is truly unbelievable. The first brick was laid in 1211. The stained glass windows are utterly magnificent.
After a 19,000 step day we headed back to Paris and hiked to the Le Printemps rooftop where we had the entire roof to ourselves, experiencing one of the best views in the world.
Another day another amazing adventure.
