If you blink walking past 50th Street and 9th Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen, you might miss it, but behind an unassuming façade is a personal, precise and downright joyful omakase experiences in New York City.
Omakase by Korami is no cavernous sushi temple with hushed tones and intimidating stares. This is an intimate 9-seat counter where the chefs smile as they slice, laugh as they torch and serve each dish with just enough pride to let you know you are in good hands.
And those hands deliver 14 courses for $89, each better than the last. Silky toro draped over warm rice. Scallop with a whisper of yuzu. Uni from Japan that melts in your mouth.
Every course was a little lesson in balance, temperature, and texture like a masterclass wrapped in nori.
Indulge in the fabulous courses of fresh sushi:

Let’s not forget the sake. The pairing was superb…elegant, clean, and just bold enough to stand up to the richness of the fish.
There’s no rush even though you have one hour to enjoy every morsel of the 14-course omakase experience.
There is a finely orchestrated rhythm. The meal moves gracefully, course by course, chopstick click by chopstick click. Your soul feels nourished and your palate is throwing a small, refined party.
Would I go back? In a heartbeat. Would I recommend it to a friend? Only the ones I really like.
So next time you’re in Hell’s Kitchen and want a reminder of what happens when passion meets precision and gets lightly torched, head to Omakase by Korami.
Just be sure to reserve early. Nine seats don’t last long in sushi heaven.
