Mixed About Motek…Boca Raton Restaurant Review

Mediterranean with a heaping side dish of bougie.

Motek located in Boca Raton, Florida, serves up some tasty Israeli cuisine.

The family owned restaurant is perpetually booked making it quite the scene.

Motek which means Sweetheart in Hebrew, offers delicious food in an attractive setting.

We sat outside away from the maddening crowd.

The service was not great. There are long lags between courses and the staff that delivered the dishes were all slammers as in basically dropping the plate indelicately on the table.

We were limited in the quantity of courses as bell peppers and hot spices are included in almost every dish.

We started the meal with drinks and the Classic Hummus which was creamy and delicious ($15). The hummus also can be ordered with mushrooms, roasted eggplant and prime beef.

The accompanying bread was fabulous.

The highly appealing Crunchy Cabbage salad with shallots, toasted almonds, and a mint honey vinaigrette was plentiful ($15).

The Zucchini Cakes served with apple sauce were delectably crispy ($16).

There are a plethora of menu offerings including, Dips,  Oven Pitas, Mezzes, Skewers, Falafels, Tartares, Kebabs, Meat and Fish.

Mood-wise, the evening was a bit of a bust as the rhythm was off and the crowd tres obnoxious.

Honestly, we were also a bit put off by the service. Magically, the charming manager appeared and was gracious and generous.

We were ready to bolt and she insisted on treating us to Motek’s magnificent dessert, Halva Silan Sundae which features vanilla ice cream topped with shaved halva, sumac candied pecans, phyllo, rose syrup, pistachios. and drizzles of silan aka date syrup ($14).

Overall, Motek’s vibe did not overly impress, but I would not discourage people from trying it when the restaurant isn’t so crazy busy.

Motek has eight south Florida locations and has popped up in New York City’s Flatiron district with additional places to debut on the upper west side and in Williamsburg.

Motek 5377 Town Center Rd #300 Boca Raton, Florida. Open Monday to Thursday 11am-10pm, Friday 11am-11pm, Saturday 10am-11pm and Sunday 10am-10pm. Reservations on Resy.
