Tam Tam…casual, honest, and comfortably addictive.
Tam Tam is one of those Miami finds that does not shout for attention and doesn’t need to. It is relaxed, unpretentious, and quietly confident in what it serves which is deeply satisfying Vietnamese comfort food done right.
This is not fusion theater or influencer bait.
Tam Tam, set in a low rise corner building amongst an urban jungle in downtown Miami, is the kind of place where the focus is squarely on flavor, balance, and generosity.
The room is casual and welcoming, service is friendly, efficient, and refreshingly straightforward, no performance, just people who want you to enjoy your meal.
Tam Tam originated as a supper club and pop-up before opening its permanent location, earning a Michelin Bib Gourmand award.
We toasted the holiday season with amazing Mango Thai Margaritas. If I closed my eyes I was on my favorite Mexican island drinking a fresh mango cocktail ($14).
We kicked the evening off with the most outrageous Scallop Crudo. Divine does not sufficiently describe the sweet, tangy coconut nuoc cham sauce, a Vietnamese dipping sauce, typically made from fish sauce, lime juice, sugar, water, garlic, and chilies. I had an urgent desire to pick up the bowl and lick until clean ($21).
The Lotus Root Salad is insanely refreshing and another fabulous dish loaded with shrimp, radish, nuts and a plethora of brilliant fresh ingredients ($21).
The Street Corn are adorably delectable, just pick up and devour ($16).
The Tam Tam Chicken Wings are the best I have ever eaten…crispy, moist, meaty, finger lickin’ good tossed in a phenomenal caramel fish sauce. They have shown up in my dreams ($18).
The Tamarind Glazed Pork Ribs are meaty, flavorful and downright spectacular.($18).
Do not lecture about the health hazards of consuming Bone Marrow. They also contain traces of protein and these babies were decadent ($22).
The fabulosity never ended. The Grilled Branzino was meaty and sweet and the sauce. If only they could bottle it and merchandise as a craft cocktail ($60).
The Pumpkin Tres Leches provided a satisfying ending and the color was intoxicating ($12).
I finished off the banquet with the BEST Vietnamese Iced Coffee ever. Like a fine wine it was perfection with a great smooth finish ($6).
Tam Tam has been on my hit list for over one year. I bought a Sun Pass to entice my family to make the journey. The drive only took 50 minutes and there were no registered complaints on the ride home.
Tam Tam does not need drama to be memorable. It is soothing, flavorful, and totally addictive in a city that sometimes tries too hard.
