Last night was the Oscars, Hollywood’s annual ritual where beautiful people gather to congratulate one another and pretend the evening is about cinema rather than diamonds and couture.
My daughter, agent extraordinaire, attended with one of her nominated clients, which means she was surrounded by the full red-carpet spectrum: the glorious, the ghastly, the fabulous, and the frightful.
The 2026 Academy Awards were lacking in award winning fashion. Very few gowns were breathtaking. Many looked suspiciously like someone lost a bet with the drapery department.
The fashion was generally horrendous, except for Rose Byrne, Teyana Taylor, Jessie Buckley and Nicole Kidman.
The commentators always attempt cleverness and fail dreadfully. They nod gravely about silhouettes and ask the age old question, “Who are you wearing?”
Joan Rivers you are dearly missed.
Through all of this, my daughter looked effortlessly elegant without the assistance of a glam squad. No stylists, no emergency hair engineers, no security guarding her diamonds…she does just fine without having to borrow bling, thank you very much.
On my ballot she wins the evening’s most important categories:
Best Agent, Best Human, and Best Daughter.
And in my completely unbiased opinion, she was among the best dressed people on the Red Carpet.
Kudos to Courtny. No glam squad required. Just style, grace, incredible professionalism observed through a lens of parental pride.
