Art For All…

Fancy Free Friday.

The city of NY and the Metropolitan Museum of Art just incited joy by offering a new city-backed initiative.

Now more than 1.7 million New York City residents who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits are eligible for a free annual membership to The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The new Explorer Membership program, launched by The Met in partnership with the city’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Department of Social Services, provides SNAP recipients with a free one-year museum membership that can be renewed annually.

Art and other cultural endeavors should be accessible to everyone.

I fully utilize my MET membership and really enjoy early access. I am very fortunate to be able to afford the $120 annual membership fee. It is expensive and not a necessity.

I am so glad that people who have limited funds and other pressing priorities can enjoy the beauty exhibited at the MET.

Art and sports are such necessary outlets. We need to support the arts, especially preserving art and sports programs in the public school system.

Spread the word and enjoy this beautiful Friday.
