Autumn In New York…

If you are bored in New York City then lay down because you are dead.

With nothing planned for the weekend we just played it by ear.

Friday morning I had a JCrew return which naturally led to me spending quadruple the amount of the return.

Then I took a 2 hour walk through Central Park which was a glow with red and golden leaves. Every corner of the Park screamed, photograph me!

A return was in order so early evening we strolled to a robust Columbus Circle shopping center where the holiday lights have recently been installed.

What the hell, we decided to walk over to Hell’s Kitchen to try a new restaurant.

Around 9:30 we strolled home through bustling boulevards.

Saturday, we headed out early to Brooklyn to see the newly opened exhibit, Monet and Venice at the fabulously creative Brooklyn Museum.

We were obviously in Brooklyn so we decided to drive to the up and coming Red Hook neighborhood to try the highly touted Red Hook Tavern.

Holding positive thoughts we joined the very long line to place our name on the waitlist.

The couple in front of us was advised of a 21/2 hour wait. My positivity diminished.

I gave my name and found out that the reservation God’s recognized my name and 10 minutes later we were seated in the vintage tavern after taking in a lovely homewares shop in the ‘hood.

Saturday night a Broadway play tempted us and off we went.

Sunday, we headed out at 9am to the west village. We walked along the Hudson River stopping by the beach and taking in beautiful vistas.

Hunger called and we popped into Pastis to get on another waitlist. It was a 30 minute wait because our only option was outside dining as our doggie was part of the party.

We ambled over to the main Meatpacking square and took in the view while sipping on cortados.

Brunch was delicious and we headed to our daughter’s apartment to suffer through yet another debilitating NY Giant late 4th quarter loss.

Dejected, we drove home and took care of domestic needs rewarding ourselves with takeout Chinese food.

For having no plans, we experienced quite a fulfilling and captivating weekend.
