Fancy Free Fridays…

Fancy Free Fridays…A Painful One.

Usually, Fancy Free Friday features a new discovery at reasonable prices.

Following that public revelation we move into real life reality.

Friday is always date night as stipulated in my prenup. It means putting on something fabulous, going somewhere exciting, and pretending the week has earned a little celebration.

This Friday, I may put on lipstick just to sit on the couch and glare at the television.

I had high hopes for the NY Football Giants.

I know.

After all these years, you would think I would have learned to keep my hopes somewhere safer, like in a locked drawer, but then Jaxson Dart gets hit, and suddenly, I am watching through my fingers, wondering whether the Giants could protect a quarterback if he were wrapped in bubble wrap.

Waiting in the wings are the Yankees and the Red Sox. I haven’t given up on the Yankees, but I am emotionally preparing for Boston to find a new and particularly annoying way to ruin the Yankees MLB playoffs.

So what is there to live for this weekend and next week?

Dinner. A decent glass of wine. My amazing husband who sadly doesn’t give two ….. about sports. The dog, who has never once asked me to trust the process and the possibility that New York sports will surprise me for the right reasons.

I shall make an effort for Fancy Free Friday night, anyway. If I’m going to suffer, I might as well look good doing it.

This week’s Fancy Free Friday recommendation, especially since the weather gurus are predicting a storm of epic proportions: Get takeout from somewhere you love. Put it on your nicest plates, pour a glass of something delish, and eat it in front of a movie you already know ends well (Love Actually or The Holiday).

Some Fridays call for an adventure. This one calls for dinner without a box score.
