Feeling Flush…

Apparently, I’ve been approaching personal transformation all wrong.

Forget meditation. Forget journaling. Forget finding your purpose. Forget the $600 a day wellness retreat where someone named Sage tells you to breathe.

Change your toilet seat.

I recently read that one of the first things you should do when moving into a new home is change the locks and the toilet seats.

The locks I understand. You have no idea who still has a key.

But the toilet seat?

Then I thought about it.

You move into a new house. You paint. You arrange the furniture. You hang your art. You spend three weeks deciding whether the sofa looks better six inches to the left.

Meanwhile, in the bathroom, you are happily sitting on a toilet seat selected and extensively road-tested by complete strangers.

Suddenly, an under $50 item seems invaluable.

And perhaps there is a larger lesson here.

We spend fortunes renovating kitchens, replacing countertops and installing faucets that require an engineering degree to operate. Yet some of the smallest changes make us ridiculously happy.

Fresh sheets.

New towels.

A shower head with actual water pressure and a toilet seat unburdened by the ghosts of behinds past.

Maybe improving your life does not require a major renovation or a life coach constantly drilling you about finding yourself.

Sometimes you just need to identify the little thing that annoys you every single day and replace it.

Start with the toilet seat.

If that works, move on to the husband.😎

  1. Hi Toby
You are so right about the toilet seat. Get the quiet slow closing cover , not the one the entire household knows you have been in this one person office In the middle of the night.
Now, I am curious, who is this Sage ?
The name of a woman or another description for a guru?

Enjoy choosing your new toilet seat.
