Pacific Palisades is on fire for all the right reasons.
Saturday brought a ray of overdue sunshine.
The Palisades Village, a retail and dining center, which originally opened in 2018 and was damaged in last year’s massive fire, reopened last weekend.
The Palisades is showing significant signs of recovery. The event personally brought a bit of joy since our home was involved in the devastating fire.
Allegedly, 99% of the shops are leased as of early July. Most former tenants are returning, while about one- third of the businesses are new to the property, including renown chef and restauranteur Nancy Silverton’s new Italian steakhouse, Spacca Tutto
The outdoor center survived the wildfire that destroyed thousands of homes and other structures throughout the coastal community, but sustained extensive smoke and water damage that required more than $100 million in renovations and environmental remediation.
Rick Caruso, a wealthy developer who owns The Palisades Village, made headlines when he hired private firefighters to protect the Village during the rampaging fire. Additionally, he owns the renowned shopping center, The Grove, in West Hollywood, lives in the Palisades and lost the last mayoral race to Karen Bass.
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection has reported that the Palisades Fire destroyed 6,822 structures, including more than 5,500 homes and about 100 commercial buildings.
I am confident that at some point in the not too distant future the Palisades with its amazing location close to the ocean, idyllic setting and outstanding schools, will flourish, once again.
