Ease on down the road.
That is exactly what chef/owner Andy Quinn and sommelier/owner Cedric Nicaise have done.
After departing 11 Madison Park the dynamic duo birthed Noortwyck, a charming bistro serving seasonal and locally sourced new American cuisine in the West Village.
Four years passed and their second child has been delivered to Mott Street in Nolita, supported by investor and Tech entrepreneur, Kevin Ryan, who also owns the building.
The level of sophistication has been raised at Oriana… there is definitely a monied feel to the new, refined restaurant.
After entering into the bar area we were ultimately seated in the main dining area with a great view of the open kitchen, dedicated to producing fire-driven American cuisine. Included in Oriana’s appeal is a highly desirable wine cellar.
We toasted the evening with their special curated dirty vodka martinis ($25).
Also available is a fancy, full tableside Martini service.
To get the party started we indulged in the Grilled Bread course served straight off the wood-fire grill with yogurt butter and chive oil. The bread is a must, crispy on the outside and soft inside, a perfect match for the butter ($14).
Our next course arrived along with a lovely chat with owner Cedric Nicaise. The savory Maitake Skewer consists of charred mushrooms over a green romesco sauce ($26).
Literally, the highlight of the entire meal was the Oriana Waldorf Salad adorned with bleu cheese, pine nuts and Medjool dates. You can just spoon all the delicious ingredients into the firm, fresh endive and savor every bite ($25).
Our main was the Grilled Salmon with smoked butter sauce scattered with tobiko and fresh greens ($40).
The side was a stunning Grilled Carrots dish with toasted buckwheat and lime ($14).
The Coal Baked Potato served crisp with bone marrow jus was excellent and the jus took it over the top ($20).
Dessert was Coffee & Donut with a magnificent espresso sorbet and malted cream ($18).
Special mention. Diners raved about the BBQ Smoked Duck Breast stuffed with foie and neck sausage ($165).
Oriana is a highly recommended treat. The food is deliciously creative, service is refined and attentive and the decor is compelling.

Oriana 174 Mott Street New York City. Open Tuesday-Friday 5:30-10pm, Saturday 5-10pm. Reservations on Resy.
