Totally Tutto…Hampton’s Restaurant Review

There are restaurants where, for a few hours, you feel as though you have wandered into the version of your life where everything is just slightly more glamorous, tranquil, and deliciously Italian.

That was my experience at Tutto il Giorno in Sag Harbor.

Tucked into the heart of one of the prettiest towns in the Hamptons, it somehow manages to be both chic and relaxed which is no small feat in a region where some establishments treat a dinner reservation as though you are applying for diplomatic clearance.

The room hums with energy and beautiful people such as owner Gabby Karan de Felice and model Carolyn Murphy. Soft lighting. Seductive outdoor dining. The gentle clink of wine glasses.

Open since 2008 the atmosphere is elegant without being stiff and fashionable without trying too hard.

The food is Southern Italian comfort elevated just enough to remind you that someone in the kitchen actually cares.

To start we shared the delectable Pane Carasau, a crisp Sardinian flat bread, dressed with EVOO, rosemary and salt ($18).

We again selected the Gabriella Salad made with Rucola, Trevino, endive, pistachio, parmigiano, avocado dressed with balsamic dressing. We had enjoyed the Gabriella at Tutto il Giorno’s sister restaurant, Tutto Mare in Palm Beach ($34).

Pastas arrive looking effortlessly beautiful.

My daughter and I shared the Linguine with fresh sweet clams, house-dried tomatoes and parsley ($41).

My husband selected the straight forward Spaghetti made with slow-dried artisanal pasta from Sorrento, Italy. It was simply fabulous with Scarpariello sauce, Corbara cherry tomatoes which is an exclusive heirloom variety grown on the terraced hillsides of Campania near Mount Vesuvius. Pecorino and Parmigiano topped off the dish. It was perfection in its simplicity ($38).

Everything feels designed for lingering conversations and the dangerous belief that perhaps dessert is a necessity rather than a choice.

Dessert was the best Terramisu I have ever enjoyed, made with mascarpone and espresso ($18).

What I appreciated most was that despite its Hamptons pedigree, the restaurant still feels warm. Hospitality has become an endangered species in some fashionable destinations, but here the experience feels welcoming rather than performative.

As the final stop in an exquisitely planned birthday celebration orchestrated by my family, it was the perfect ending.

Wonderful food, lovely surroundings, excellent people watching, and the simple luxury of sitting around a table with the people you love most.
